5 Signs Your Website Needs a Redesign

website redesign

Your website is the foundation of your online presence—often, it’s the first thing prospective customers see when looking for your products and services. As technology and design trends evolve, that website that you loved a few years ago may start to show signs of age.

Here are five signs that indicate your website may need a redesign:

Outdated Design

Web design trends may not change as often as fashion trends, but looking outdated is just as much of a faux pas. If your website looks like it’s stuck in the past, with outdated graphics, fonts, and layouts, it might be a turn off to potential customers.

Poor User Experience

No one likes a website that is difficult to navigate, has slow loading times, or isn’t mobile friendly. If visitors have trouble finding the information they need or if your website is not optimized for mobile devices, it’s time for a redesign to improve usability.

Low Conversion Rates

We say it all the time: Your website should be working for you. If your website is not generating the leads or sales you expect, it may be due to confusing navigation, unappealing design, or poor (or non-existent) calls-to-action.

High Bounce Rates

When is the last time you peeked at your website’s analytics? A high bounce rate, or the percentage of visitors who leave your website after viewing only one page, can indicate that your website is not engaging or relevant to your target audience.

Not Responsive

We know we mentioned mobile friendliness in the “poor user experience” section, but it’s worth mentioning on its own because it’s just that important. For most industries, mobiles users far outweigh desktop users, so it’s critical to have a website that looks good on devices of all sizes.

Does Your Website Make the Grade?

It’s not uncommon for business owners to have website built and then go months without looking at it. Take this as your sign to spend some time navigating your site from the perspective of a potential customer, and see how it fares against these five metrics.

If you decide your website needs a redesign, we’d love to help.
